Gracious, almighty and merciful God, thank you for allowing us to come together in this place to do the work that you have designed for us to do. Lord I pray that you continue to order our steps in the direction of love, unity and justice. Let us remember that we assemble here to bring the state of Alaska progress and to honor you in everything that we do. Lord, I pray a special prayer for unity, that we can put aside all forces of distraction and confusion and to keep our heads held high and our minds on you so that working together is no longer an abstract concept but one that is tangible. I pray Lord, in this moment and every moment to come, that we will come together to honor your word and do our job as your people, your people forever united. Let these words not fall on deaf ears but penetrate the hearts of your people. In your name I pray, Amen.
