The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Karen Perkins, Resurrection Lutheran Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Almighty God, our heavenly Father, bless these public servants in the government of the State of Alaska, that they may do their work in a spirit of wisdom, charity, and justice. Help them use their authority to serve faithfully and to promote our common life. I ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Senator Stevens led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
