Senators Donley, Ellis, Salo, Sharp were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Zharoff was excused from a call of the Senate through plane time. Senator Lincoln was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Rich Zimmerman of the Chapel by the Lake Church. Senator Duncan moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious Creator, We pause this morning to remember who You are. You are the source of all life, the beginning of all good things. By Your power the sun and the moon and the stars and the planets, the seas and the winds all conform to a great symphony of motion that is both wonderful and beautiful. We pause to remember who we are. We are Your children, borrowing life from You for a few short years. You have given each one of us special talents so that we might contribute our voices to this beautiful symphony around us. I especially give You thanks, O God, for all those who contribute to the work of this Senate. Today they will endeavor to make law. This is an awesome responsibility. Grant wisdom and courage, compassion and understanding as they engage in their work. May they have iron determination to stand by those principles which they hold most dear. May they be quick to listen to one another and cooperative in their work. May all of their voices be heard so that this body does what is necessary, fair and right. 3089 1996-04-09 Senate Journal Page 3090 Bless all those present as well as their families and friends back home.
