Representatives Brown, B.Davis and Parnell had been previously excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Jon Paden of the Juneau Church of Christ. Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: Dearest God, thank You for today, and for the hope of tomorrow. Thank You for the opportunities You provide us to serve all Alaskans. Many interests compete for our attention, and we ask to maintain that focus which satisfies justice for all our people. May the work we do honor the elderly, such that when our children find their way here they will know to do likewise. May the decisions we render on behalf of the children, elicit in them, when they are here, appreciation for our efforts. Guide us in today's deliberations. I come to You in the name of hope, Jesus Christ. Amen. 1996-01-24 House Journal Page 2518 The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Green.
