Pursuant to adjournment the Senate was called to order by President                                                             
Stevens at 11:01 a.m.                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                                
The roll showed nineteen members present. Senator Dunbar was                                                                    
excused from a call of the Senate.

          As I reflect on the past and look forward to the                                                                      
          future, I acknowledge Your hand in all that is good                                                                   
          and holy. I humbly seek your grace and forgiveness                                                                    
          for past transgressions and the strength to redress                                                                   
          them. While I take pride in many aspects of our                                                                       
          history, I recognize that nothing substantive has been                                                                
          accomplished without Your will. Therefore, let me                                                                     
          focus on the future, following Your path, Father.
