Senator Olson was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Patrick Casey, Co- Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Today I ask that you bless this gathering, inspiring the people in this chamber. That as they deliberate the concerns of the people we serve in the state of Alaska that we be open minded so that we are able to make the right decisions that meet the needs of all of the people of Alaska. Amen. Senator Kiehl led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Giessel moved and asked unanimous consent the journals for the eighteenth through twentieth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Giessel moved and asked unanimous consent Senator Olson be excused from a call of the Senate today through February 14. Without objection, Senator Olson was excused. 2025-02-10 Senate Journal Page 0224 Messages from the Governor A Declaration of Disaster Emergency dated February 7, authorizing Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to take action to mitigate the impacts of severe weather and transportation disruptions to the Parks Highway, Richardson Highway and the Alaska Railroad corridor, with an accompanying letter, was received pursuant AS 26.23.020. The declaration and letter had been copied to the Finance Committee Cochairs. Standing Committee Reports SB 77 The Labor and Commerce Committee considered SENATE BILL NO. 77 "An Act relating to national criminal history record checks for certain employees of the Department of Revenue; relating to allowable absences for eligibility for a permanent fund dividend; relating to the confidentiality of certain information provided on a permanent fund dividend application; relating to the duties of the Department of Revenue; and providing for an effective date." Signing do pass: Senator Bjorkman, Chair; Senators Dunbar, Gray- Jackson. Signing no recommendation: Senators Merrick, Yundt. SB 92 SENATE BILL NO. 92 BY SENATOR YUNDT, entitled: "An Act establishing an income tax on certain entities producing or transporting oil or gas in the state; and providing for an effective date." was read the first time and referred to the Resources and Finance Committees. Consideration of the Calendar Third Reading of Senate Bills SB 15 SENATE BILL NO. 15 "An Act relating to the sale of alcohol; relating to the posting of warning signs for alcoholic beverages; and providing for an effective date" was read the third time. The question being: "Shall SENATE BILL NO. 15 "An Act relating to the sale of alcohol; relating to the posting of warning signs for alcoholic beverages; and providing for an effective date" pass the Senate?"
