Representative Stapp had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Father Patrick Casey of Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Representative Story moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Today we gather to ask God our creator to instill in us today concerns for our brothers and sisters in this community in Juneau who are in need, and to find ways to help them get employment so that they can be independent and live in their own home and not on our streets. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Carrick. INTRODUCTION, FIRST READING, AND REFERENCE OF HOUSE BILLS HB 74 HOUSE BILL NO. 74 by Representative Tomaszewski, entitled: "An Act establishing the crime of airbag fraud." was read the first time and referred to the Labor & Commerce and Judiciary Committees. 2025-01-29 House Journal Page 0099 UNFINISHED BUSINESS Representative Kopp moved and asked unanimous consent that the following members be excused from a call of the House. There being no objection, the members were excused as noted: Representative Eischeid – from 7:00 p.m., January 31 to 10:00 p.m., February 2 Representative Kopp – from 8:00 p.m., January 31 to 10:00 p.m., February 2 Representative Holland – from 8:45 p.m., February 7 to 9:20 p.m., February 9 HJR 4 Representatives Kopp and Carrick added as cosponsors to: CS FOR HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 4(RLS) Urging the President of the United States, the United States Secretary of the Interior, the United States Board on Geographic Names, and the members of the state's delegation in Congress to maintain Denali as the official name for the tallest mountain in North America. HB 69 Representatives Carrick, Story, and Hannan added as cosponsors to: HOUSE BILL NO. 69 "An Act relating to education funding; and providing for an effective date." RECONSIDERATION HJR 4 Representative McCabe brought up reconsideration of the vote on CSHJR 4(RLS) (page 90). 2025-01-29 House Journal Page 0100 The following was before the House in third reading: CS FOR HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 4(RLS) Urging the President of the United States, the United States Secretary of the Interior, the United States Board on Geographic Names, and the members of the state's delegation in Congress to maintain Denali as the official name for the tallest mountain in North America. The question to be reconsidered: "Shall CSHJR 4(RLS) pass the House?" ENGROSSMENT HJR 4 CSHJR 4(RLS) was engrossed, signed by the Speaker and Chief Clerk, and transmitted to the Senate for consideration.
