Senator Myers was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Patrick Casey, Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. O God, we pray for our government leaders who are gathered here in this chamber: listen to the needs of the people in the state of Alaska, respond to them with honesty and humility, and also pray for a just and lasting peace in nations that have been torn apart by violence that they will have one day soon a lasting peace. Amen. Senator Wielechowski led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
