Representative Saddler moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Dibert be excused from a call of the House from today to midnight, April 17. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Kristi McGuire of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Representative Vance moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. It is with the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all who live, work, and recreate in Alaska, that I welcome you to join in this time of prayer and reflection. I invite you to settle your body. Take a deep breath. Take three fingers on your right hand and hold your left wrist to feel your own heartbeat. Feel its rhythm and allow your body to settle your mind and your spirit as you breathe in and out. Come, Holy Spirit. Creator God, be in our hearts and minds as we come together today. Some of us are celebrating Eastertide. Help these believers remember that the resurrection and the cross let us know that in the midst of suffering and pain, there is rebirth and hope. 2024-04-15 House Journal Page 2292 Divine presence, we acknowledge that we have different beliefs and different faith traditions. Whatever we believe or whether or not we do believe help us to come together and find commonality today, even if it is in just the small spaces and the seeds that are sown. May we take time to examine the unexamined. Give us vision to see where our systems create inequities. Illuminate our blind spots. May we encounter conflict as a gift and approach it with curiosity instead of judgement. Great Comforter, we gather with humility today as people of privilege, grateful for this opportunity and hopeful for our future and the future of those who we represent. Sustainer and redeemer, be with us in our tiredness and our busyness. We call upon your strength that each one of us might be the best person that we are called to be today, in this season and this hour. As we renew these goals in our hearts on this day and the days that come before us, let us say, with confidence, Amen and Amen! The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative C. Johnson. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Saddler moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 88th, 89th, and 90th legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, it was so ordered.
