The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Dr. Tim Harrison of Chapel by the Lake. Representative Vance moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. In deepest respect for the religious beliefs of each person here, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. Let us pray: Glorious God, we are in awe of your majesty and power. Every day provides new opportunities to see and know your power and majesty, in both the great and the small. We acknowledge the gift of living in a land with wondrous beauty, tremendous diversity, and a wealth of resources. We thank you for the willingness of these men and women to serve the people of Alaska. As we look to the day and work before us, we realize the tension between doing what people say they want, and doing what is best for our communities, for even the wisest among us benefit from seasoned and judicious counsel and deliberation. Forgive us when we rely solely on our own intellect and experience. 2024-04-08 House Journal Page 2102 Give us understanding hearts and minds so we may know and see the needs, hopes, and dreams of those we serve. Make us instruments of justice, mercy, and peace. Guide us as we protect the weak, wounded, and vulnerable; for whatever we do to the least of these we do to you, the Great God, ruler of the universe, author and sustainer of life, the one who knows the secret motives of every heart. I, your servant, offer this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Galvin. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Saddler moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 81st, 82nd, and 83rd legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
