The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Trenton Cooper of Valley Baptist Church. Representative Vance moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With the deepest respect for all people including those with differing beliefs, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection: Heavenly Father, I am grateful to you for your everlasting love for all people. When I look around at the beauty of this state, I can see your beautiful design. The mountains, rivers, and natural beauty of this state proclaim your good works. But your crowning achievement was the creation of humans who are made in your image. Each person here, Lord, is someone that you gave life to and deeply care for. You proved your love by sending Jesus Christ to die for all humanity. And you showed your power by raising him from the dead. So, in light of this reality, I pray for the leaders of this great state. That they may accomplish good works through this legislative body for the sake of all people in this state. May 2023-04-17 House Journal Page 0742 you grant them wisdom and unity so that their good works in this body may proclaim your glory. I gladly lift each one of them up to you in prayer and ask that you bless them, their families, and their friends with good health and happiness. May they have the peace and joy that can only come from you. It is in your son, Jesus Christ's name, that I pray. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Sumner.
