Dear President Stevens:                                                                                                         
                                                                                                                                
Under the authority vested in me by Article II, Section 15, of the                                                              
Alaska Constitution, I have vetoed the following bill:                                                                          
                                                                                                                                
            CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 127(FIN) "An Act relating to                                                                
        vehicle rental taxes; relating to the issuance of subpoenas                                                            
     related to tax records; and providing for an effective date."                                                              
                                                                                                                                
Unnecessary taxation of a new and growing industry is bad public                                                                
policy. Accordingly, I have vetoed the bill.
