Senators Bishop, Revak were excused from a call of the Senate. Senators Gray-Jackson, Olson, Reinbold, von Imhof were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel Kirk Thorsteinson, Alaska Army National Guard. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Hallo’ friends and honors to the Senate! We don’t even have to try, it’s always a good time here with you on behalf of the Adjutant General and Commissioner of Alaska’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Before I ask spiritual blessing on your day, as we observe Military Appreciation Month, on behalf of Alaska’s Arctic Warriors I want to thank you for recently remembering, honoring, and celebrating the life of our sister, Colonel Justine Emerson. Let us pray. My Sweet Lord, I invite and acknowledge Your presence with us on Thor’s day. Continue to mold these Senators into some kind of super group, like The Traveling Wilburys! And as they and their team of supporters are doing the best they can, please lend them a hand so everything’ll work out fine as this Session gets closer to the End of the Line. Give them grace to remember to live and let live and the best they can do is forgive, both others and themselves. 2022-05-12 Senate Journal Page 2702 My Sweet Lord, just as Bob Dylan politely and respectfully declined to comply with the Ed Sullivan Show’s desires this day in 1963, help those assembled today assertively preserve their uncompromising professional integrity, to be strong even if others say they’re wrong. And, My Sweet Lord, daily remind us to choose “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” as we interact with our neighbors. Amen and God bless you!
