Senator Bishop, Cochair, moved and asked unanimous consent for the adoption of the Finance Committee Substitute offered on page 2324. Senator Begich objected, then withdrew his objection. There being no further objection, CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 45(FIN) "An Act raising the minimum age to purchase, sell, exchange, or possess tobacco, a product containing nicotine, or an electronic smoking product; relating to selling a tobacco product; relating to possession of tobacco, electronic smoking products, or products containing nicotine by a person under 21 years of age; relating to the definition of 'nicotine'; relating to transporting tobacco, a product containing nicotine, or an electronic smoking product; relating to the taxation of electronic smoking products; relating to electronic smoking products; relating to the marketing of electronic smoking products; relating to tobacco products; and providing for an effective date" was adopted. SB 81 SENATE BILL NO. 81 "An Act requiring background investigations of village public safety officer applicants by the Department of Public Safety; relating to the village public safety officer program; and providing for an effective date" was read the second time. Senator Hughes, Chair, moved and asked unanimous consent for the adoption of the Community and Regional Affairs Committee Substitute offered on page 982. Senator Begich objected, then withdrew his objection. There being no further objection, CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 81(CRA) was adopted. President Micciche stated CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 81(CRA) will advance to third reading on the April 20 calendar. Recess President Micciche stated the Senate would stand in recess to the Joint Session. There being no objection, the Senate recessed at 11:06 a.m. 2022-04-19 Senate Journal Page 2348 After Recess Joint Session in the House Speaker Stutes called the House to order and in accordance with Uniform Rule 51 turned the gavel over to President Micciche, who called the Joint Session to order at 11:14 a.m. The purpose of the Joint Session was to hear an address by the Honorable Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senator. Senator Hughes moved and asked unanimous consent the roll call of the Senate be waived and all members be shown as present. Without objection, it was so ordered. Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent the roll call of the House be waived and all members be shown as present. Without objection, it was so ordered. President Micciche appointed Senator Holland and Representative Merrick to escort U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan to the Joint Session. The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, Romo Marasigan, announced the Honorable Dan Sullivan's entrance to the House Chamber. Senator Dan Sullivan was escorted to the rostrum and welcomed by President Micciche. U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan delivered his address. This address appears in Senate and House Joint Journal Supplement No. 14. Following his address, there was a question and answer period. Senator Sullivan received a standing ovation and was escorted from the chamber by Representative Merrick and Senator Holland. Senator Hughes moved and asked unanimous consent the Joint Session stand in adjournment.
