Senator Olson was excused from a call of the Senate. Senators Reinbold, Revak, von Imhof were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Greg Weinert, Emmanuel Baptist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Our Heavenly Father, Creator of all that is seen and unseen, I praise your holiness. Equip us for the works of service before us. As servants of your people, we ask for strength in these final days of this session; let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we know this work you have set us to do will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Help us to persevere under the trials of leadership. Let us not despair in the face of the monumental tasks and decisions before us. You have promised to strengthen us and help us, if we call on You in faith; You will uphold us with Your righteous hand. We can do all things, overcome all obstacles, find solutions where there appear to be only barriers, through You who gives us strength. 2022-04-12 Senate Journal Page 2296 Give us humility Lord, as you have promised to lift us up if we remain humble in our servitude to your people. Do not allow us to make decisions out of selfish ambition, or self-interest, or vain conceit, not looking to our own interests but to the interests of others. Rather, in humility, remind us to value the needs of others above ourselves. Remind us of your words to do for others what we would have done for us. Guard our hearts against malice to others, but rather remind us of the sacred dignity of all your creation. Present us as servants approved by You; workers who do not need to be ashamed and who correctly handle truth, in the execution of our obligations to our land, our resources, and our people. I trust in Your discernment. This I pray and petition, not to our glory, Lord, but to yours, and in praise of you alone. Amen. Senator Shower led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
