Senators Costello, Hoffman, Olson, Revak were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Eugene Williams, First Baptist Church of Juneau. Senator Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Oh, great God of all glory, Guide the hearts of all in this room today who would be about the business of making choices that affect the lives of others. Your Word says not to let kindness and truth depart from us. We are to bind them around our neck as an ox would receive a yoke. We are to write kindness and truth upon the tablets of our hearts not unlike You inscribed the Ten Commandments upon the stone of Mount Sinai for Moses (Proverbs 3:3). LORD of all things, grant great inner strength to those present here today not only to accomplish the business at hand, but also to relate to co-workers, friends, and family in all ways pleasing to You. Help each one to know and to rejoice in Your truths and not to rejoice in unrighteous ways (1 Corinthians 13:6). 2022-01-21 Senate Journal Page 1616 We look to You, Righteous Father, to bring to our minds what needs to be said and what does not need to be said regarding any particular situation, and to help each of us clearly identify and obey each of those inclinations as they arise. Heavenly Father, protect us from all forms of evil as we traverse yet another God-given day on this earth, a day that You have provided so that we could worship You in obedience to Your commands. Grant to each of these senators the fullest ability to engage manifest respect, loyal service, insightful wisdom, and unswerving courage toward the challenges that they will face this day and into the future. And may all who are subject to the legislation of this body be able to support all forthcoming decisions wholeheartedly and unashamedly (1 Peter 2:13). I ask this today of You Father God, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen. Senator Wielechowski led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
