Senators Wielechowski, Wilson were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Holland. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, here in this chamber, words are spoken and decisions are made which can shape the lives of generations. We are entrusted with the sacred stewardship of legislating decisions for the future of our state. We ask you to abide here so every word spoken and every vote cast may be just. May your wisdom guide us, and your hand guard us. This, I pray, one nation under God, Amen. Senator Hughes led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
