Madam Speaker, members of the House, staff, and guests: Thank you for the privilege of sharing prayers with you on this holy day of the church. It is with the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of each person here, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. Let us pray: Creator of all, by the example of the power of healing you bestow on every living thing. Lead us into a season of healing we can practice in the world we can reach out and touch. Teach us strategies of acceptance that do not require us to surrender integrity. Create and make in us new and contrite hearts for our own healing. Restore us to truth and awaken our forgiveness for ourselves and others. Reconcile us with those who have become separated from us. Remind us that our lives are created as are all others, and to dust we shall return. Amen. 2022-03-02 House Journal Page 1970 The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Shaw. It is further the Sense of the House that the Alaska House of Representatives recognizes the brave resistance by the free people of Ukraine for their example to the world of heroism in defense of liberty 2022-03-02 House Journal Page 2000 and self-determination. The Alaska House of Representatives salutes the free people of Ukraine for their bravery in the face of a seemingly overwhelming hostile force, and prays fervently for their ultimate victory. It is further the Sense of the House that the United States of America can no longer afford to appease and enrich a power apparently bent on the subjugation of its free neighbors. Therefore it is the Sense of the House that President Biden and the United States government must immediately do the following: • Resume on an ongoing basis, the regular and uninterrupted supplying of Ukraine with military aid including lethal aid suitable to counter Russian aggression; • Support the membership of Ukraine in the European Union; and • Promoting global energy independence from the Russian Federation, and domestic energy independence through the encouragement of domestic energy production of all types."
