With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, Sometimes in our daily schedule we forget where our strength comes from. As individuals we can do nothing, but in Romans 8-31, 32 it says, If God is for us, who can ever be 2021-03-17 House Journal Page 0346 against us. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? We humbly come before you and ask that each day you give us the wisdom and knowledge to do what we must do, to make the decisions that will help those less fortunate and to give comfort to those grieving. Lord, we ask that you give hope where none can be seen. We ask that you help the many thousands of men and women who find themselves out of work. We ask that you bless and protect those who protect us: from our service members who protect us from those who seek to destroy what you have given us, to our police officers, our firefighters, and EMTs. We ask that you be with our hard-working medical personnel, from the newly graduated nurses to the most experienced specialist. You have given these men and women a special gift to comfort those in pain, may they use their gift wisely. 1st Peter 4-11 says, Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Edgmon.
