Senator von Imhof was absent. Senator Costello moved and asked unanimous consent Senator von Imhof be excused from a call of the Senate today. Without objection, Senator von Imhof was excused. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Karen Perkins, Resurrection Lutheran Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Almighty God, we lift before you all who govern this state. May those who hold power understand that it is a trust from you to be used, not for personal glory or profit, but for the service of the people. Drive from us all cynicism, selfishness, rudeness, and corruption; grant in your mercy just and honest government; and give us grace to live together in unity and peace. Through our most Holy Lord. Without objection, it was so ordered. Messages from the House SB 54 Message dated May 1 was read stating the House passed and returned: SENATE BILL NO. 54 "An Act approving the transfer of certain Alaska Railroad Corporation land; and providing for an effective date." The bill was referred to the Secretary for enrollment. Standing Committee Reports SB 71 The Judiciary Committee considered SENATE BILL NO. 71 "An Act making corrective amendments to the Alaska Statutes as recommended by the revisor of statutes." Signing do pass: Senator Hughes, Chair; Senators Micciche, Kiehl. Signing no recommendation: Senators Shower, Reinbold. Consideration of the Calendar Second Reading of Senate Bills SB 10 SENATE BILL NO. 10 "An Act extending the termination date of the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council; and providing for an effective date" was read the second time. 2019-05-02 Senate Journal Page 1003 Senator Costello moved and asked unanimous consent the bill be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading and placed on final passage. Without objection, it was so ordered. SENATE BILL NO. 10 was read the third time. The question being: "Shall SENATE BILL NO. 10 "An Act extending the termination date of the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council; and providing for an effective date" pass the Senate?" Second Reading of House Bills HB 12 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 12(JUD) "An Act relating to protective orders" was read the second time. Senator Hughes, Chair, moved and asked unanimous consent for the adoption of the Judiciary Senate Committee Substitute offered on page 938. Senator Begich objected, then withdrew his objection. Third Reading of Senate Bills SB 103 CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 103(FIN) "An Act relating to deposits into the dividend fund and income of and appropriations from the earnings reserve account; and providing for an effective date" was read the third time. President Giessel stated the bill would be returned to the Rules Committee. Without objection, the bill was before the Senate on final passage. The question being: "Shall SENATE BILL NO. 80 am "An Act relating to proposing and enacting laws by initiative; and prohibiting the state and its agencies and corporations from spending funds to influence the outcome of certain ballot propositions and questions" pass the Senate?"
