The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Dan Wiese, Church of the Nazarene. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, I pause this day to acknowledge you as the Lord of all Creation. I praise You today as you are our Source of Wisdom, Compassion and Understanding. Lord, Your Scripture teaches us to seek wisdom and pursue it. It also says if we lack wisdom to ask You and you will give wisdom to those who seek it. I pray that each one here in this chamber seek Your wisdom as there are many issues before our state that we need your divine wisdom and guidance. I pray for this body as they deal with budgets and issues that affect people all across this state. Give them wisdom, compassion, understanding and help them to be good stewards of the resources for which they are responsible. I pray for people and families across the state that, Lord, You would be with them and You would provide for them as we transition to a season of less government spending. I pray for the hearts of all Alaskans that we can come together as Alaskans to support one another and work together for our present day as well as future generations. 2019-02-25 Senate Journal Page 0394 Finally, Lord, I would pray for each Senator and their families and staff who give of themselves to serve this state. Bless them. Guide them. Lead them each day as they go about their daily activities; as they fulfill their responsibilities, and as they conduct their business. Lead them along paths that maintain the integrity and trust of their positions. Be especially near to those who carry great burdens and reassure them you are there to help them if they will turn to you. Bless this day and bless this session. I pray these things in Jesus’ Name, Amen. Senator Bishop led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
