It is with great respect for all who gather here and the various religious beliefs represented in this room that I offer a prayer for us this day: Most gracious God, we come humbly before you today on behalf of the Alaska State House of Representatives. I thank you for these officials who have taken on the responsibility of leadership in our great state. I thank you for all the support staff who work in this building. We live in a beautiful state populated by people whom you love and for whom you provided hope, grace, and mercy through your son, Jesus. These men and women have been elected to a great 2019-04-17 House Journal Page 0644 responsibility to conduct the business of the state, to know many different issues and make decisions that will impact many people. I pray for wisdom, guidance, and conviction to make good and right decisions as they deal with issues affecting the lives of Alaskans across the state. Our state faces many challenges in budgets and finance, as well as many other issues that require decisions and actions that will determine the future of our state. Please give a great measure of your spirit to discern what is good and best for our future. And finally, God, I pray for these representatives and their families. They carry their own burdens and concerns. Would you go with them and help them? Would you provide for them, guide them, and bring healing to the various areas of personal concern? And I pray you would guide them as they uphold the integrity of their office and their position of leadership. Bless them this day! It is in special honor of the Christian Holy Week that I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Johnson.
