Representative Tuck had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Dan Wiese of Church of the Nazarene. Representative Shaw moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. I am again honored to stand before you this day, and it is with respect for the various religious beliefs of each person here, I invite you once again to pause with me for a moment of prayer and reflection: O Lord, I pause before you this day to offer up to the throne of Heaven this prayer for this House of Representatives. I have great respect for people who step up to lead and to serve people and to serve this state. So, I pray for each of them, their families, their staff, and all who work in this building. I pray that you would give them your divine help and assist them in the work they are doing. Help them as they listen to people back home and across the state to know and understand how to best serve the people and the state of Alaska. 2019-03-20 House Journal Page 0346 I pray for wisdom and help in the things that challenge them and the struggles they face. I would pray also for their personal needs. Even as they work here in Juneau in the position they have been elected to and in the responsibility they have been called upon to fulfill, they still have needs in their families and needs back home. So, I pray you would help them and provide for those needs and to remind them they are loved by you. You do care, Lord, about their lives and what they experience and what concerns them each and every day. I pray you to be here with them, guide them, and help them this day in all those things. It is for these things and before these people, I pray this to you. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Vance.
