Senator Begich was absent. Senator Micciche moved and asked unanimous consent Senator Begich be excused from a call of the Senate today. Without objection, Senator Begich was excused. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Hughes. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Lord, I am needy of you. As I stand here in this moment, I can't kid myself - we're aware, more than ever, of our own weaknesses, and of the struggles in our hearts and with each other, disagreements and disappointments that divide us. I say "No more." I say, "help us, God." I need you more than ever. I realize that intellect, logic, reason are not enough and leave a void in us that only You can fill. So I ask that you would fill us. Fill us with your Spirit. As we take a deep breath, even now, may your life and love fill us up so completely that unity will be the rule rather than the exception - in Alaska and in our nation. 2018-05-03 Senate Journal Page 2944 The realm of the impossible is your reality. I want your reality, and so I invite you, I welcome you, to move in our hearts in a profound way, to move in our capital in a fresh way, to move across our state in a bold way, to move throughout our nation in a transformative way. With new awareness, with eagerness for what You will do, I turn my heart to You. I pray this with every fiber of my being. I pray this in the name of the One who has not and will not stop loving each and every one of us - my friend, my Lord, my Redeemer. Amen. Senator Egan led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
