Senator Costello was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Major Kirk Thorsteinson, Alaska Army National Guard. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Almighty God, I invite and acknowledge Your presence with us as the members of this Senate consider how best to enact laws and appropriate money necessary to creatively and efficiently operate Alaska's government. As the Fountain from where all blessings flow, may You bless these senators, their families, and their staff members who willingly and sacrificially serve their districts and our great State! Lord God, knowing many issues and potential solutions facing Alaska have passionate supporters, please grant these senators boldness to respectfully and assertively communicate their positions to those with alternate viewpoints, just as on this same day in 1775, Patrick Henry, as a delegate to the Second Virginia Convention, boldly voiced opposition to British policy and stated, "I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death." If ever they feel timid, fill these senators with a spirit of power and love and discipline. 2018-03-23 Senate Journal Page 2350 Eternal God, in all they do, strengthen their desire to daily conform to Your image and rely on You in all situations for Your holy purposes.
