The seat from District E was vacant. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Michelle Hale, Council Member of the Juneau Shambhala Center. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. There is a Buddhist saying, "Be grateful to everyone." By extension, this can be, "Be grateful for everything, every being." As I stirred a teaspoon of honey into my coffee the other morning, this saying came to mind. I thought, "I wonder how many flower trips go into one teaspoon of honey?" Of course, I Googled it. A worker bee in her short life of 6 weeks produces just 1/12 teaspoon of honey. A teaspoon of honey requires 31,000 flower trips. That single worker bee makes 2,600 trips in her lifetime. I use two teaspoons of honey every single day in my two cups of coffee; that's 62,000 trips every single day; all of those bees. I am grateful to each and every one of you for all that you do for us, for Alaska. Bless you and thank you. Senator Giessel led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2018-02-19 Senate Journal Page 2050 Certification Senator Micciche moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the thirty-second through thirty-fourth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary.
