The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Gordon Blue, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Eternal God, fountain of wisdom, light of clarity, and giver of truth, we thank you for the gift of Psalm 19, and for the blessings of generations. Lord, Your law is perfect, and revives the soul. Revive then, we pray, the souls of this Senate, Lord, and awaken in them a hunger for the wisdom and clarity of your justice. Awaken a yearning for your just and merciful judgements. More to be desired are they than gold, much more than fine gold, sweeter far than honey, than honey in the comb. By them also is your servant enlightened, and in keeping them there is great reward. May you be with these Senators, who have been called by the people 2017-03-13 Senate Journal Page 0498 into their service. Give them strength to bear their own and one another's burdens. Bless them so that they may bring blessings upon the future generations of Alaska. Amen. Senator Giessel led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
