Recognizing the variety of faiths that are represented here today, I do thank you for the opportunity to open this day in prayer. Dear Lord: Thank you for this body of legislators who have taken the time from their personal lives to serve the great state of Alaska. Thank you for their dedication to the principles of government and for their part in making this happen. I ask you to bless their day. I also ask that you would help them to be fruitful with their time and that they would seek your wisdom. In Proverbs we are told that many plans are in a man's heart, but the counsel of the LORD will stand. These representatives want to make wise decisions and work out plans that are beneficial for our state. They want to craft legislation that will bring about new laws and bills that best represent the will of the people. With that in mind, I ask that your counsel would be given to them that will stand firm with lasting results. Thank you, Lord, for your grace to help us in our time of need. This is that time when your grace is needed. It is grace because it is undeserved favor that I am asking for. May the words and the speech of every legislator be seasoned with salt. Help them to have a mutual appreciation for the work each of them is doing as they process through the issues that are before them today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I lift this prayer today. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Stutes. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 71st and 72nd legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
