The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Tom Matthews of Douglas Island Bible Church. Representative Ortiz moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Recognizing the variety of faiths that are represented here today, I do thank you for the opportunity to open this day and your week in prayer. Dear Lord: I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Thank you for the author of that Psalm, for David. Someone who was an outdoorsman, a shepherd, and later on a king and leader of men. Your word tells us he was not perfect, but even in his weaknesses, when his focus was on you, you blessed him in his leadership of a nation. David reminds us, as he looked to the mountains with all the potential dangers in them, that our help comes from the Lord, 2018-03-26 House Journal Page 2886 the creator of the world! That is what we have access to. That is where we can draw our strength from as well. Lord, there are mountains out there with people in them who would want to lead these legislators away from their main focus. Who might even do them harm by leading them away from a path of personal integrity and justice. There are temptations for them while they are separated from their families. I would pray for them as David prayed, that their help would come from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth! Your word tells us that you are active in the affairs of man, and I believe you put each of these representatives in the role they are in. Therefore as your representatives, I pray for protection for them, I pray for resolve to remain true to their tasks, and that Alaska's future would be better because of the decisions they make with your help. I lift these individuals before you today in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Seaton. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 67th, 68th, and 69th legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
