Representatives Foster and Kreiss-Tomkins were absent and their presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Kirk Elmore of Landmark Apostolic Church. Representative Westlake moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Today I would like to offer honor and respect to every person here and would like to now invite you to pray with me. Lord Jesus, I come into this place with reverence and an understanding of the challenges and obstacles that these men and women face. The responsibility of ensuring the future success of our state can weigh heavy on the minds and hearts of these public servants. So right now, God, I ask that you would bless them and their families; God, help lead them in the right direction for this wonderful state we call home. I ask that you would be a constant reminder to them that doing what is best for their constituents means making the hard decisions that may not always be popular. God, I ask that you th grant them wisdom. In the 37 chapter of Psalms the Psalmist says that, The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just. In wisdom we can determine what 2017-04-12 House Journal Page 1054 the right path is for our land, our laws, and our people. God, let your spirit be present in this place; let it speak words that bring an understanding. Lastly God, I want to acknowledge you and your grace. Thank you for your patience that you give to us daily. Thank you for the opportunities that are granted among these men and women that with your help and your direction we will be blessed with a wonderful and prosperous future. I ask all these things in your wonderful name Jesus. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Birch.
