Representative Kito was absent and his presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Mark Peterson of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. I invite you to pray in your own tradition, as I pray in mine: Sovereign Lord, You place before us responsibilities for each other. You give us a duty to care for your creation. You grant us freedom and choices. Bless our work as we seek a common center for all people. Give us the precious gift of listening to each other's concerns, even as we ask that we too might be able to speak truth in ways that are productive and are clearly and concisely heard. Gentle our hearts, so that compromises can be made for the good of Alaska and the world. Quiet our minds so that winning at all costs is not the only way to make good, just, and caring legislation. Give us the vision to be deeply concerned for all our people, of all races, ages, colors, genders, and languages. And make us aware that unless we 2017-03-15 House Journal Page 0552 are uncomfortable, we haven't truly changed. Bless that discomfort for our personal growth as individuals, as representatives of the people together. The truth is there. Let us graciously explore it in your presence. Amen.
