As schedules press, deadlines loom, and pressures heighten, give these men and women, called into leadership, new energy for the work that is before them this day. Give them new breath to speak truth this day. Give them new courage to work for justice and compassion this day. Give them new patience to listen to one another this day. Give them new imagination to bridge differences this day. Give them new wisdom to guide them in their service to all people this day. Let these gifts lead us to the promise of tomorrow for all the people who trust in the work of this body, this Senate, this day. Amen.
