Senator Bishop was excused from a call of the Senate today. Senators Costello, McGuire were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Tom Matthews, Douglas Island Bible Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Dear Lord: You spoke through the prophet Micah when he said: "He has told You, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you ... But to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Justice in our judgements, mercy in how we treat others, humbleness in our relationship with God. Three instructions you give us in how we should approach life. Thank you that Your Word speaks clearly to us even today. I echo the words of the Psalmist who said ... "See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, LORD." 2016-02-12 Senate Journal Page 1836 Lord, I pray that you would help this group of Senators to have a profitable day. That they would be able to focus on the issues at hand and see things get accomplished. I'm sure at times things can get bogged down. Give each one of them alert minds ready to handle the business that is put before them. Later today then marks the end of another week. If there are those who are going to be traveling home, or going out for whatever reason, I pray that you would give them traveling mercies. Bring them back safely after their weekend. "And now, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer." In Jesus' Name, Amen. Senator Egan led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Senator Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that Senator McGuire be excused from a call of the Senate today. Without objection, Senator McGuire was excused.
