Senator Stedman was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Nathan Stearman, Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Good morning, Lord! I am honored to pray on behalf of the Alaska Senate. The recent crash of Germanwings flight 9525, has reminded me of the very troubled world in which I live and work. Today, Lord, I am grateful for the safety and blessings that are ours in this great state, yet we, too, are aware that many in our state, face their own hardships and tragedies - many of which we will never be aware of. I ask for Your comfort in this time of loss for all facing tragedy - whether those who have lost a loved one or friend on flight 9525 or those who have lost a spouse to cancer. Let us pause for a moment of silent prayer on their behalf. Father, I am grateful that Your heart is moved by human pain and that You minister Your gracious comfort. Today, there are matters of great importance before these gathered Senators; the decisions they make must 2015-03-27 Senate Journal Page 0612 affect the lives of those in this state - some will be benefitted, some will be hurt.
