Representative Hawker had been excused from a call of the House today. There was one vacancy. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Nathan Stearman of Juneau and Sitka Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessings you have granted these legislators in their hard work for the great state of Alaska. I think, first, of the recent loss this House and the Gruenberg family have felt-please grant them your comfort. Every day in this House, these dedicated folks face challenging decisions in navigating the potholed road out of our financial crisis. Their decisions impact the lives of thousands-do continue to grant them wisdom. On this Monday, may you give them the help and insight needed. I think, too, of the current election process in our great nation and ask that you would guide into office the person best suited to lead our country forward. I also want to pray for those facing difficulty because of the financial strain on our state- those trying to stretch limited resources; those seeking a different career and those looking for work. Thank you for caring about us. Amen. 2016-02-22 House Journal Page 1662 The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Josephson.
