Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Good morning, Lord! I can't help but mention again the tragedy of flight 9525. It reminds me that we live in a very troubled world. I ask for your sustaining presence to be in the lives of those facing this tragic loss. I ask also that you would be with all the others around our planet facing pain and loss whether in our nation or another; whether in our state or in our own families. Thank you! All is not sorrow this morning; however, progress has been made this year through the various committees and representatives working to make good laws and decisions for our great state; for this I am grateful! As this session is winding up rapidly, I ask that you would give strength and wisdom to this representative body as they seek to make the best decisions possible in these tough times. In Jesus' name. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Reinbold. 2015-03-27 House Journal Page 0590 CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 65th and 66th legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, the members were excused as noted: Representative Wilson - from 12:30 p.m., today to 10:00 p.m., March 29 Representative Thompson - from 12:30 p.m., today to 10:30 p.m., March 29 (amended from page 565) Representative Tuck - from noon, today to 10:00 a.m., March 30 Representative Nageak - from 12:25 p.m., March 29 to 8:12 p.m., April 1 SENSE OF THE HOUSE The following Sense of the House was offered by Representatives Herron and Saddler: 2015-03-27 House Journal Page 0605 "It is the Sense of the House that the State of Alaska should be an informed participant in all decisions made concerning the future of the state and the well-being of its citizens. We therefore object to the content and form of a March 23, 2015 letter from 30 U.S. Senators to U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell applauding her recommendation to designate the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as wilderness. We note, ironically, the letter's appearance on the same day that Alaska's U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan decried the Secretary's efforts in his first address to a joint session of the Alaska State Legislature. This letter included no reference to or acknowledgement of the clearly expressed opposition of a majority of Alaskans to such management - and indeed, no reference to Alaskans whatsoever. We likewise object to the content and form of a March 19, 2015 letter from 80 U.S. Congressmen to Secretary Jewell supporting her recommendation to protect the "landscape" of the Coastal Plain - landscape characteristics apparently being the new federal code phrase for "wilderness." Furthermore, no copies of the letters were officially directed to the State of Alaska. We note and object to the fact that H.R. 239 proposing permanent wilderness designation of the Coastal Plain ignores the clear intent of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act that there be "no more" wilderness designation of federal land in Alaska. Due regard for the interests of the state of Alaska and its citizens demands that they be informed participants in federal actions affecting these interests." Representative Herron moved and asked unanimous consent that the Sense of the House be adopted. There was objection. 2015-03-27 House Journal Page 0606 The question being: "Shall the Sense of the House be adopted?"
