Representative Guttenberg had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Gordon Blue of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With profound respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer. Creator God, when you speak there is light and life, when you act there is justice and love; give your blessing to the House of Representatives of Alaska. Grant these women and men, our representatives, vision and grace in the exercise of their duties that this may bring light and life to the communities and people whom they serve. Give them courage, wisdom, and foresight to fulfill our obligations in the world and for the days to come. The span of our life is seventy years, perhaps in strength even eighty; yet the sum of them is but labor and sorrow, for they pass away quickly and we are gone. So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Psalm 90:10, 12 2015-01-21 House Journal Page 0022 Guide and bless this house that they may enact such laws as shall provide for the welfare of our people, increase the common good, and promote lasting health and security for the residents of Alaska. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Claman. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the first legislative day be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
