Senators Fairclough, Stedman were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Dr. Douglas M. Dye, Chapel by the Lake. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious and loving God, thank you for the gift of this beautiful day. The ancient Hebrew poet sang out, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24) So loving God, I pray that you help us find joy in this day. Remind us of the unique blessings and opportunities that will come to us as we serve the people of Alaska today. We thank you for physical health and the ability to serve others. I pray that you give energy and stamina to these senators. They work long hours and their schedules are demanding, so I pray that you will guard their health. We also thank you for the good work you have called them to do. Bless them with wisdom and strength to serve well. They face challenging tasks and decisions, so I ask you to guide and encourage them in their work. 2014-03-31 Senate Journal Page 2216 Loving and gracious God, I thank you for the women and men of the Alaska Senate. I pray that your hand of blessing and mercy be upon them. I pray you give them the grace to listen carefully to one another, that you enable them to work well with each other - even when they see things differently. And dear Father in heaven, I pray that you watch over the families of these dedicated public servants. Most are far from home and separated from their loved ones. Protect and prosper their families. I pray these things in the name of my Lord, Jesus. Amen. Senator McGuire led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the sixty-seventh through sixty-ninth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.
