Senator Kelly was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Mr. Allyn Steele of Northern Light United Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious God of many names, I pray to you today to remind myself and others of love: Your great, and beautiful, and terrible love; Your hilarious, and odds-defying, and earth shattering love; Your love that is so out-of-bounds that it is lawless and genderless, documented and indescribable, abundant, common and poor, comforting and discomforting. Christians I know believe a prophet, healer, teacher and activist named Jesus was your son. They say he embodied love like no other before or since. They say that he told his disciples on the night before his execution that there was but one commandment to follow: love one another. Gracious God of many names, I pray that today's exercises of statecraft in this great land of Alaska hold fast to love: Love for you; Love for each other; and Love for the creation you offer to us. Amen. 2013-04-05 Senate Journal Page 0982 Senator Dyson led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
