The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Dr. Phil Campbell of Northern Light United Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious Creator, the middle of the week can be hard. It is where we just have to grind it out. The newness of the beginning is behind us and the end is not yet in sight. As this body gathers midweek, sustain them, O God. Keep them open to your spirit of wisdom and compassion, and keep them receptive to one another. Surprise them with fresh perspectives and grant them the capacity to imagine new possibilities. Amid the grind of midweek, may each one in this chamber be reenergized that they may remain faithful to their calling and attentive to the tasks at hand so that our state will be well served by their efforts.
