Valuing each and every person, and understanding the differences in spiritual perspectives, I ask that we take a moment during this very busy time to quiet our minds and our spirits as I offer this prayer according to my faith in Christ. Lord, It is so good to come to you this morning and know that you not only hear us but you are here with us, even in this very room where we make decisions that impact our state. We rest in the knowledge that you desire good things and blessings for Alaska, that you care deeply about our state and her people. In spite of our shortcomings, our mistakes - and we do make some, Lord - in spite of our weaknesses, our pride, you are faithful, Lord. Your heart for Alaska is greater than we could ever know or imagine. We turn to you in these final days of the legislative session and recognize that as you said in the book of Jeremiah long ago to your people, you say to Alaska, 2014-04-11 House Journal Page 2356 to us, even now: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Thank you, Lord, for that promise. Help us align with your purposes and bring you glory in all that we do. Humbly, and yet boldly, I ask, Lord, that your spirit be with us and your favor be upon us. In your holy and very wonderful name, I pray. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Edgmon.
