With respect to the diversity of voices, beliefs, and practices that call out to a power beyond our individual selves, I offer the following prayer: Faithful One, It is difficult and mighty work that these men and women gather to do this day. It is work that matters. And so we give you thanks for these men and women, committed to service to this state and its many peoples. Help them to remember that an issue does not have sides, it has faces, faces of people who depend on them and trust in them to protect and support them across the many aspects of life, in both celebration and challenge. Help them to hear one another with compassion and justice, and a willingness to do what is right and good for all people, that they may freely live, learn, work, and love. Give them all they need this day and more: courage, patience, kindness, wisdom, vision, and imagination as they do the work you have called them into. We pray all this with confidence and hope. Amen. 2014-02-26 House Journal Page 1692 The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Isaacson.
