We rise under the stars and moon and sun of the great state of Alaska; we call it our home. Alaska calls to each of us through the winds that scape our lives, the waters that shape our destinies, the provisions that sustain us while we are here. Our days and weeks turn to years of service and work so that our state of Alaska remains strong and diligent in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all who find themselves in this great state: as home, as a place to visit, just passing through, or an extended rest stop on a longer life's journey, born here, returning to roots deep here, raised here. For all combinations of circumstances in our lives that have brought us together here to this place this day, we give thanks. 2013-03-15 House Journal Page 0542 May God's grace and spirit of community be with us as we live and work alongside each other to make this great state of Alaska stronger and more just, more livable, more vital, more viable and sustainable. May we as people committed to protect, sustain, and support all of its people know the needs within our great state. May we, the people who live here and call Alaska home, tell the stories of our diligence, love, patience, and hope as this great state of Alaska to our great country and to the world. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Hughes.
