We give thanks today for the great responsibility of voting, and we celebrate the strength of our democracy. We remember the boldness of this assembly nearly one hundred years ago on March 21, 1913, as they extended the vote to women. Make this current assembly bold in their pursuit of justice and affirmation of democracy. Open all of our ears and hearts to hear the voices of those who are too often silenced. May we all take seriously the awesome duty of electing and being elected as we seek to live faithfully and justly together. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Neuman.
