Representative Holmes had been excused from a call of the House today. Representative Joule was absent and his presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, The Most Reverend Edward J. Burns, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Juneau. Representative Gruenberg moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Good and gracious God, you are the author of all life-human and divine. We give praise and thanks to you for the wonderful ways in which you have created us and established your majesty in all of creation-through the beauty of nature and through the strength of your arm manifested by your powerful works. We ask that you bless the members of the House of Representatives of the State of Alaska. May they continue throughout this legislative session to do your will and work for the common good. Infuse in them your spirit of wisdom, strength and grace. May they always know the great responsibility of their public service for the people of the great state of Alaska.
