Dear God my Heavenly Father, I thank you for this beautiful day filled with sunshine and the majesty of the Alaskan landscape. It is wonderful, oh God, to live in a land of such stunning beauty. The snow capped mountains, the forested hills, the sea with all its power and life, call to mind your creative beauty and love. 2009-03-25 Senate Journal Page 0640 I am reminded, oh God, of the words of the Psalmist in the Hebrew bible when he declares, "O Lord, Our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory above the heavens and you have crowned human beings with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet." (Psalms 8: 1, 5, 6) So I pray you would bless each of these Senators, fill their minds with wisdom and their hearts with joy, grant them a profound sense of the way you have blessed their lives. Protect and nurture them and their families. Give them strength of body and mind to do their work well. Thank you, oh God, that you have called these men and women to serve the people of Alaska. We know the demands of service are challenging, the hours are long, the issues are complex, and the expectations of their constituents can be difficult. So I pray that you will watch over these men and women this day. Help them to serve with vigor and wisdom. And bless them with a caring and respectful spirit - one for another. I pray all this in the strong and saving name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Senator Paskvan led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2009-03-25 Senate Journal Page 0641 Certification Senator Ellis moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the sixty-third and sixty-fourth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary.
