Senator Huggins was excused from a call of the Senate. The seat from District B was vacant. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Mike Rose of the Juneau Christian Center. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, thank you for yet another opportunity to give you thanks and to praise you for your greatness, your goodness, and your faithfulness to us. Lord, thank you for the invitation for us to call on your name. As your word says: Men ought always to pray and not faint or cave in. You told us to "ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you." Help us to be mindful of our need for your help, and your wisdom in decisions made for this great state. As Benjamin Franklin stated: "God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?" We have been assured in the sacred writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. 2009-03-13 Senate Journal Page 0518 Lord we ask for your grace, favor, and strength for the senate and their families today. Thank you for blessing our state and nation with your protection and grace. In your name I pray. Amen. Senator French led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
