Representatives Cissna, Foster, Petersen, and Salmon had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Tari Stage Harvey of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Respecting the beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Catch us in our anxious scurrying; hold us today in your grasp. Hold our feet to the fire of your grace. Make us attentive to our limits that we may begin to let go of power and control now - to let go those things that keep us from loving you, from loving our neighbor. Free us from grudges and apathy, from certainty and arrogance, from false securities and fears. Pour out your spirit upon these faithful servants and upon all those they represent: A spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of peace and knowledge, a spirit of joy and celebration of your presence. In you we pray. Amen. 2009-04-03 House Journal Page 0714 The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Kelly.
