Senators Bunde, Wilken were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Cowdery was excused from a call of the Senate due to illness (page 1448). The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Huggins. Senator Olson moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Most precious heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus and his sacrifice on our behalf and for forgiveness. More importantly, as a body separated from our families, I ask you to bless our families that they can carry on the family tradition back in our communities. I would ask, on behalf of this body, that decisions and debate are based on merit and not politics; and that we come to conclusions you can bless. Across our nation and across our world there are a lot of young Americans doing things for their country. In about a week we will be observing Veterans' Day and I ask thy blessing on those people for their sacrifice for our country and all it stands for, and thank you for that freedom. For your guidance, and in Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. 2007-11-02 Senate Journal Page 1468 Senator Elton led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
