With deepest respect for the religious traditions of all Alaskans, I offer this prayer. O gracious, good, and giving God, who has given us this day as a gift from your own hand, help us, we pray, by your grace to see your hand at work in the world around us-not only in the natural world, we pray, but in the discourse, discussion, and decisions which shape the world our children will inhabit. We ask your blessing upon the poor, the elderly, the mentally ill, the addicted, the very young, and all who have no voice but those who choose to represent them here. For those who can share and do we give special thanks. 2008-01-18 House Journal Page 1746 Help us to find the beauty you have hidden in plain sight among our daily duties: in the lives of those with whom we disagree, in the strength of our minds and the passion of our purpose. May that beauty surround us like a cloak, shod our feet, and crown our heads with peace. For all the members of this House and all whom they are called to serve, we give you thanks and ask for your abundant presence and peace. Amen.
